After some delay we bring you the results from our ESWC poll, which say that Finn "karrigan" Andersen from 3rd placed mousesports was the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, leaving behind Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund in one of the closest votes this year. The All-Star lineup of the tournament was also selected, so read on to see who is in it.
With the year 2011 drawing to a close, the time has come to finish up with the polls from recent major tournaments. We start with the results from Electronic Sports World Cup held in Paris, France at the end of October. A while ago, we announced the Top players of the event where you had the opportunity to vote for your MVP and All-Star lineup, and that brought us around 2300 opinions. In addition to that we asked 26 experts (players and journalists) and the two sides were now put together for a final result.
MVP
After a very close vote, the recognition for the Most Valuable Player of ESWC 2011 goes to Finn "karrigan" Andersen from German team mousesports. It is the first occasion this year that a player from a third placed team gets selected as the best, and while some will argue that the MVP needed to be a player from the winning team, others will argue that Andersen was the player who made the most contribution to his team's success.
With everything considered, the MVP title could have also gone to Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund whose team SK Gaming won the event, but the public side was the deciding one this time, as Andersen was far more favored getting 49% of the votes compared to 27% for Alesund. Experts, on the other hand, were somewhat undecided. Despite giving Alesund the edge (54%), it wasn't a big enough advantage compared to Andersen (42%), resulting in a close win for the Dane (46% compared to 41%).
karrigan (second from the right) with the 3rd place cheque
Andersen had by far the best performance of his career so far, and statistics also support his election, starting with having the most total kills at the tournament (290) and being the most dominant player (28 rounds with 3+ kills). He was also the best rated player (1.38 rating), the one who carried his team the most (rating 27% above team's average), the best rated in playoffs (1.38 rating) and 2nd most consistent.
Additionally, his performance with the AWP was one of the most impressive this entire year, as no one collected more than his 125 AWP kills at any tournament, and only a few surpassed his 0.39 AWP kills per round. Moreover, Andersen was one of the best pistol-round players (4th) and entry killers (5th) at ESWC.

All-Star lineup
Apart from the obvious choices Andersen and Alesund, the All-Star lineup of the tournament expectedly features the other two MVP candidates, along with a member of fourth placed Polish team AGAiN. The result is a quite fearsome fictional squad.
All-star lineup of ESWC 2011:
Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund (SK)
Finn "karrigan" Andersen (mousesports)
Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg (SK)
Yegor "markeloff" Markelov (Natus Vincere)
Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas (AGAiN)
Despite having the MVP title slip out of his hands, SK's Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund was in fact the most frequent choice for the All-Star lineup. The most consistent player and the best fragger of the tournament was both public's (80%) and experts' (89%) first pick when it came to selecting the fictional five.
The Most Valuable Player of the tournament, mousesports' Finn "karrigan" Andersen, was right behind as the second choice in both polls, with 77% of the public selecting him and 81% of the experts.
The next member of the All-Star lineup was also a very frequent pick, another player from the winning team SK Gaming, Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg. Both public and experts had him in 73% of their lineups.
The best player from second placed Natus Vincere, Yegor "markeloff" Markelov, also made the cut, but only thanks to the experts as their 3rd pick (77%), while the public had him in 38% of the lineups as their 6th.
The last place usually comes down to a few percentages between several players, but this time Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas was a definite selection to complete the squad, as the best player from fourth placed team AGAiN.
